The following applies ONLY to foreign students not resident in the U.S. who are attending training courses run by Space Coast Tactical LLC in the continental United States. Rules for courses we operate in other countries may be different (contact us for detailed information about this).
In general, some visitors to the United States cannot possess or even touch a firearm without committing a felony for which the penalties are severe. The good news for you is that we have a procedure in place that allows foreign visitors to legally possess and shoot a firearm during their stay.
We ensure that you are in compliance with all State of Florida and ATF regulations for non-resident visitors to the United States to able to shoot. If a student has entered the country on the Visa Waiver program, there is no charge. For a student entering the country on a B1/B2 visa there is a charge payable to the State of Florida of $46.50. However, even if you are a non-immigrant alien on a B1/B2 visa, if you have been in the country for more than 90 days there is no charge.
On July 9, 2012 the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) changed the rules regarding possession of firearms by non-citizens. As a result, it is now even easier for foreign students to shoot. Visitors on the Visa Waiver program are now no longer considered non-immigrants for the purposes of possession of a firearm. BATF now considers that here are now 2 categories of visitor:
If you are entering the the United States under the "VISA WAIVER" program, you are no longer considered a "non-immigrant" for the purposes of possession of a firearm. If this is you, you're good to go without any other paperwork.
If you are entering the United States on a visa, such as a B1 or B2 visa,. If this is you, just let us know and we will take care of the BATF required paperwork for you.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO HUNTING, TO A RANGE OR TRAINING COURSE THAT DOES NOT ARRANGE THE NECESSARY PERMISSIONS FOR YOU. FEDERAL AND STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY AND YOU CAN BE ARRESTED AND JAILED
